Protochips has an opening for an intern with experience in CAD 3D design to help create new products and sustain existing product improvements. Our team is responsible for designing fully integrated systems involving complex hardware, software, and semiconductor technologies. These systems are used by research organizations and corporations to better understand nanoscale science in electron microscopes. This is a paid internship for 35 hours a week.

Core Responsibilites

  • Assist in new product design
  • Sustain existing product improvements
  • Create CAD part drawings, Bills of Material, and assembly documents
  • Test new technologies
  • Help prepare products for production


Applicants should have experience working with Solidworks CAD program. Have excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to work in teams. Ideally we are looking for candidates with a background in mechanical, industrial, aerospace or biomedical engineering. Experience gained in the classroom and through personal application will be accepted.

Job Description:

Protochips, a fast-growing company serving global academic and industry research scientists, is seeking for an Event Specialists to manage and coordinate the annual plan of tradeshows and workshops in North America, Europe and Asia. The position reports to Marketing and interacts daily with Sales ensuring a seamless execution of global customer events. The Event Specialists is responsible for events management communication, booth, conference rooms and hotel reservations, materials and employee’s attendance logistics, prioritizing and managing expenses within the allocated budget.

Event Specialist Responsibilities include:

  • Proactively participate in the annual events planning cycle of Marketing and Sales
  • Gather the information from exhibition, conference and workshop management to reserve booth space, poster sessions and other concomitant events in a timely fashion
  • Coordinate materials (booth, graphics, display instruments, collaterals, give away items) employee’s and guest speaker’s attendance, ensuring availability and on time delivery
  • Communicate with event management staff, third party event services, shipping agents and negotiate pricing to control event cost and budget
  • Keep track of year-to-date expenses vs. budget and provide Marketing / Sales performance index reports including lead generation, CPL and event performance vs. expectations
  • Manage import / export of materials including documents, procedures and communication with international distributors, particularly in case of Carnet loan shipments
  • Support the event leads processing ensuring a prompt distribution, during and after the event

Strong candidates:

  • Are confident and articulate to speak effectively and informatively with event managers, sales, application scientists, operations and guest speakers
  • Are independent and motivated team players
  • Can occasionally travel to engage with event managers and verify the quality of the execution
  • Are proficient in event management and planning and provide Marketing process improvement feedback, suggestions and tools
  • Have significant experience in event marketing management in the scientific instruments, medical device or similar industry
  • Are self-organized, goal-driven; work independently and can manage event coordination crisis

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Job-related strong experience, particularly in high technology / scientific industries
  • Ability to build strong relationships with third party managers, suppliers and sales channels.
  • Friendly, outgoing personality; confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Knowledge of MS-Office, internet browsing, email; download / upload documents from website or email
  • Proficiency with Sales Force, or equivalent CRM
