AXON Synchronicity v10.8.3 Product Release Notes

Protochips is excited to introduce AXON Synchronicity v10.8.3 which brings a variety of new features, improvements, and bug fixes to the AXON software package for all AXON users. Any users running a prior version of AXON Synchronicity with an active license are eligible for this free update.

What is new in Version 10.8.3

What is new:

• Now supporting AXON HFR.

• • With this licensed module in AXON Synchronicity, users can enrich the high frame rate images recorded by Gatan IS cameras with all the metadata aggregated by the AXON system and interact with this data in AXON Studio at full spatial and temporal resolution.
    • New workflows to selectively transfer, consolidate, and index Gatan IS recorded images through AXON Synchronicity or Studio.
    • New image type, “HFR”, supported in Publish, Create Collections, Pack and Share and all other Studio data management and analysis operations.
    • New options to resize the live image in AXON Synchronicity to operate at a different resolution from the image acquisition software.
    • Flexible options to transfer HFR images at full or reduced resolution.
    • New HFR Image Transfer Queue, reporting status of all open transfer requests.
    • Compatible with all Gatan IS enabled cameras.
• New database architecture, speeding up times to open and interact with larger Libraries.

What is improved:

• Improved image and data cleanup, with prompts alerting temporary buffer size and automatically disconnecting when full. 
• Improved disconnections and process interruptions on JEOL systems resulting from a Tem Server timeout.
• Improved Focus Assist calibrations to start with a larger initial move.
• Improved Focus Assist unwind, moving in controlled steps and accounting for alpha or X tilt.
• Improved Drift Correction unwind, accounting for alpha or X tilt.
• Improved Service > Beam Calibration process, with larger acceptable FOV.
• Improved Service > Microscope Commands to command new positions when Drift Correction is enabled.

• Now supporting DE Server “Movie Frames”.

What is fixed:

• Fixed UI alert stacking and now persist state to reduce the number of UI alerts.
• Fixed runtime crash on 32bit imaging services introduced in v10.7.3.x.
• Fixed Dose monitoring to persist state through sessions and process.
• Fixed AXON disconnection errors after Single Captures on Gatan K2 Cameras.
• Fixed coordinated Alpha Position metadata values.

AXON Studio for macOS v10.8.3 Product Release Notes

Protochips is excited to introduce AXON Studio v10.8.3, now native for MacOS.

• AXON Studio is an intuitive software for managing, reviewing, analyzing and publishing TEM images and metadata in your office or workspace. Accelerate publication of your results and simplify collaborative analysis with AXON Studio between PC and Mac.
• Requires macOS Ventura (13) or greater. ARM64 (Apple Silicon) processor. 16+GB of RAM recommended.

• New option to collapse the Library View by double clicking the neighboring grid bar.
• New option to delete specific image types, with the option to keep metadata, through right-click context options on selections in the timeline.
• Now installed in Program Files vs Program Files (x86) for better integration with Windows Store.
• Improved “Discover Libraries” file explorer.
• Improved rectangle draw minimum size from 50 pixels to 10 pixels.

• Improved post-processed drift correction in AXON Studio to digitally correct all image types, including Raw, Single Images and HFR Images through the “Create Collection” workflow.
• Updated EULA.

What is fixed:

• Fixed FFT to correctly delay calculation until parked on an image when “Live FFT” is disengaged on angle draw or selected area.
• Corrected the image source metadata for Direct Import images.
• Fixed Studio crash when navigating panels before a collection is opened.
• Fixed Studio crash when creating a transformed collection without available diskspace for new image files.
• Persisting folder selection dialog for “Notes – Attachments” to default to last selected location.
• Fixed “Save Library As” progress indicator to indicate when finished.
• Fixed bug when merging Collection into a new Library.
• Fixed Toolbox Rectangle and line tool to persist correctly when navigating between tabs.
• Fixed library view to highlight the open session or collection in orange.
