Tuesday publication post! In this newest collaboration from Magdalena Parlinska-Wojtan, Tomasz Roman Tarnawski, Joanna Depciuch, Maria Letizia De Marco, Kamil Sobczak, Krzysztof Matlak, Mirosława Pawlyta, Robin E. Schaeublin, and See Wee Chee, these authors looked at controlling the morphology of nanostructured films during electrodeposition, using the #PoseidonAX system!

⚡Controlling the electrodeposition with multiple elements, requires a deep understanding of the process. These in situ TEM studies showed the electrodeposition of PtNi nanoparticle films on a carbon electrode during cyclic voltammetry, revealing how film thickness increased with each cycle.

By the fourth cycle, we observed the formation of branched and porous structures. Complementary in situ X-ray microscopy confirmed the deposition of Ni in its oxide phase.

This approach allows the authors to fine-tune film properties—like thickness, nanoparticle size, and surface structure—by varying parameters like cycle count and scanning rate.

These insights have valuable implications for practical electrodeposition.
